Types of Sleeves

Angel sleeve

Similar to the “Bell Sleeve”, but this kind of sleeve hangs loose from the shoulder.
Basic Short Sleeve

Like the name states, simple and short.
Batwing or Magyar Sleeve

A long sleeve with a deep armhole, tapering towards the wrist.
Bell Sleeve

A tight sleeve that goes from the shoulder to the elbow and opens from elbow onward.
Bishop sleeve

Fuller at the bottom and gathered into a cuff.
Butterfly sleeve

These sleeves start at the shoulder and immediately open, but aren’t longer than 8 cm and end at the elbow.
Gathered Sleeve

Normally a short, slightly puffy sleeve that is gathered at the end.
Cap Sleeve

It’s a type of sleeve that’s shorter and tighter than a t-shirt sleeve.
Cap and Puff Sleeve

A mix between the Cap and Puff sleeve. Typical Princess dress sleeve.
Dolman sleeve

A long sleeve that is wide at the top and narrow at the wrist.
Gauntlet Sleeve

A sleeve that should fit only from the axilla to either the knuckles or wrist.
Gigot or leg o’mutton sleeve

A sleeve that is extremely wide and puffy above the elbow and narrow from the elbow to the wrist.
Fitted point sleeve

A sleeve that is long and narrow and ends at the back of the hand.
Flutter Sleeve

Similar to the Butterfly Sleeve but shorter.
Hanging sleeve

A sleeve that opens down the side or front, or at the elbow, to allow the arm to pass through.
Juliet sleeve

A long, tight sleeve with a puff at the top.
Kimono Sleeve

A sleeve that may take many shapes and styles only with one thing in common, the sleeve and the bodice are one piece of fabric.
Pagoda sleeve

A wide, bell-shaped sleeve. Usually worn over an engageante or false under-sleeve.
Paned sleeve

A sleeve made in panes or panels, allowing a lining or shirt-sleeve to show through.
Petal sleeve

In which a side overlaps the other, creating a petal effect.
Puffed Petal Sleeve

A Puff sleeve with a Petal sleeve encasing it.
Poet Sleeve

A long sleeve fitted from shoulder to elbow, and then flared from elbow to wrist, usually with ruffles on the cuffs.
Puffed Sleeve

A sleeve, of any length, that is gathered at the top and bottom.
Raglan sleeve

A sleeve that extends to the neckline.
Set-in sleeve

A sleeve sewn into an armhole.
Spaghetti Strap Sleeve

Not much to say here.
Two-piece sleeve

A sleeve cut in two pieces, inner and outer.
Virago sleeve

A full sleeve gathered into two puffs by a ribbon above the elbow.
